I inherited a X58 Extreme motherboard with CPU and memory from my son when he upgraded to a ROG X570-F.
I tried adding my old PCIe USB 3 add-on card but... The computer starts to boot and then shuts off part way through the POST The card worked on on my old LANPARTY MB. I tried another card from FRY'S but same thing. I bought a ASUS add-on card on ebay with the ASMedia ASM1142 USB 3.1 host controller in hopes it is the chipset My old MB had settings for the PCIe bus to share the bus (slowing data transfers) But there doesn't seem to be any of these settings on the X58 Extreme (plain jane) Has anyone out there installed a USB 3.1 PCIe add-on on this MB? |
