I've got a Deskmini that has worked fine using an Intel Pentium G4500.
Since I replaced the CPU with an i7 7700 I've got problems running Windows 10 (1703, 1709).

Problem: Especially when playing videos the system freezes sporadically.

The CPU termperature is fine and running burn in tests like Furmark + cpuburner or Furmark + Prime95 is no issue for the PC.

Any suggestions what could be wrong?

Thanks for info.

Fresh windows install?

There is a significant difference between the G4500 and the i7. At the very least you should reinstall your intel iGPU and chipset drivers/software. I would recommend using DDU (Display driver uninstaller) and cleaning out all your intel drivers.

If you are still freezing after that, try a fresh install.

This is what I've done yesterday or the day before. (Win10 1709)

Before this I updated the BIOS

It seems as if the system is more stable since I've disabled "CPU C State Support".

Not the best solution, but if it works...

I have the same issue.
And it's starting a long time ago.
I have an i5-7400 from the beginning.
Often freezing then:
a. running several videos in browser and surfing
b. then surfing and watching video in player

I've tried change everything except CPU and mobo:
SSD, memory, HDD disk, drivers, Windows 10 builds (now 10.0.14393)
had different versions of BIOS (now it's P7.20)

still freezing

I have a temporary solution:
Go to Advanced in BIOS/UEFI then CPU Configuration and disable two options:
* CPU C6 State Support
* CPU C7 State Support

Checked with 3 browser video tabs + mediaplayer + some online browser game on two displays
.
Worked throughout 15 minutes without freeze.

Today I had a freeze.

I've disabled additional options:
Enhanced Halt State (C1E)
* CPU C3 State Support

you need to upgrade BIOS, at least try 7.20 or latest version (for now it's 7.60)
