After ~4 months I still cannot get my AB350 Pro4 to reliably boot from my Samsung 960 Pro drive in the "Ultra M.2" slot.
I am on BIOS 4.70 but have been on everything between that and stock 3.00 that came with the board. I have probably rotated every setting in the BIOS and I can get it to boot *occasionally* - it seems to work especially well after sitting dormant for a long period of time which is sadly what my build has been doing for the most part ![]() But inevitably, after a restart or power cycle I will get stuck at the BIOS screen and the SSD will not be detected. Has there been any progress in resolving this issue or am I better served just tossing the board out and getting something different - the ASUS ROG STRIX X370-F is on a pretty good sale right now and seems perfectly compatible with my build...

is your 960 pro on firmware ISO 2B6QCXP7 http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/FM/201710/20171030095332613/Samsung_SSD_960_PRO_2B6QCXP7.iso
and did you install the nvme drivers from samsung http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=UNI_SEC&CttFileID=7036312&CDCttType=DR&ModelType=N&ModelName=MZ-V7E1T0&VPath=DR/201805/20180514160435960/Samsung_NVM_Express_Driver_3.0.exe&OriginYN=N firmware updates on m.2 are rare but when they show up its usually a major problem fix
as for the drivers i dont see any changes for me it just changes the "standard MS Nvme drivers" to "Samsung Nvme drivers" but it did somehow solved my windows 10 upgrade (insider update) |

yeah you can open samsung magician it should prompt the firmware update unless you are already on that version
if youre brave you can also try to update the m.2 outside of windows a tad more complicated

Updated to 4.90 on the BIOS and then used Magician to update the drivers from Microsoft to Samsung (firmware was up to date).
Restarted fine and seems to boot fine now. Scared to death that an intermittent issue will crop up again down the line...but for now its working. Appreciate the tip!

And it crapped out again - going to try and revert to 3.30 per the response from the ASRock technician but I am very doubtful that this will help things out.
Returned the X-370-F I had ordered to replace this which was 80 bucks off from Newegg and now the price has jumped back up.... FML haha

Reverting to the 3.30 did nothing to improve the issue - responded as such to ASRock technical support but I imagine their next response would be to ensure that the drive is inserted fully into the M.2 slot or something similarly banal.
Anybody had consistent success with this? Going on damn near 6 months with the issue - cannot seem to get the computer to consistently boot from the SSD in the ultra M.2 slot....I feel like it is either a faulty MoBo or a hidden BIOS setting somewhere.
