I have installed an M.2 drive in the 3rd m.2 slot with a heatsink on my Taichi z390. I screwed one screw of the heat sink plate back in (the screw closest to the m.2 connector), but when I try to screw the other side in, the screw does not reach the motherboard. The Taichi big metal heat sink is now attached with only one screw.
Note that my drive is an Adata xpg sc8200, and has its own very thin heat sink glued on to the back of the drive that is different from the large metal Taichi heatsink that came with my motherboard. Do I need the 2nd screw for the heat sink plate? Can I get a longer screw? Thanks for your help. |

what is on there is not a heatspreader but fancy looking plastic, and this plastic interfers with the taichis heatspreader. the heatspreader needs full contact to work wich means only one screw is not enough also it wont work properly because of the cover thats already on the drive
