For example, B550 won't work with 2000-series Ryzen.<br /><br />The BIOS chip on the board should have a sticker on it, showing which BIOS version it was shipped with.  That number should be correct if the board is actually new.  You can look up AsRock page for that board to see if that BIOS version supports the CPU you're interested in.<br /><br />If the BIOS is older than that, you'll need to borrow an older CPU to flash the BIOS.<br />]]>

A 5 year old motherboard new would be hard to find, if it comes without the CPU cover it is used not new.<br /><br />Why buy older boards when newer ones can do better and offer more support?<br /><br /><br /><br />]]>
