The motherboard will offer you 20 pcie 3.0 lanes. 16 get's taken up by your gpu, which leaves 4 pcie 3.0 lanes. those 4 pcie 3.0 lanes is then used by your m.2_1 ultra slot. The chipset I believe has 4 pcie 3.0 lanes dedicated to it, which is used to offer 8 pcie 2.0 lanes. of those 8, 2 are used by the m.2_2 slot.

and yes, you could have 1 m.2 in the ultra slot (m.2_1) which is pcie gen3 x4, and another m.2 in the m.2_2 slot which is pcie gen2 x2

I am researching m.2 / ultra m.2 and I feel like there is conflicting information on the Motherboard feature page and the manual. Looking at the Newegg feature list of the motherboard it makes this claim about the ultra m.2 slot
M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32Gb/s)

However on the website, for compatible m.2 cards it says this
Note1: The speed of PCIE Gen3x4, Gen3x2 and Gen2x4 M.2 SSDs can only reach to Gen2x2 when plugging in M.2 slot.

Why get a Gen3 x4 if it will only reach Gen2x2?
