Author: odd_ball
Subject: 102812
Posted: 26 Mar 2025 at 12:45am

I have this board for 2 weeks, when suddenly the NVME drives didn't show up anymore, tried all kind of things, to no avail.
Since there is only a beta 10.5 bios available I didn't want to take the risk to flash it since there are other users on this forum that bricked their board. So I contacted my supplier, to return the board and get my money back. The wanted me first to try this Beta bios, which I did (asked them if they were sure, since there is a chance to brick the board).
So I just followed their manual, and just reflashing the IPMI to 10.02, caused the system not to be reachable anymore, the flash went ok till 100%, after the reset however the IPMI was nowhere to be found, even after lots of minutes waiting.
Seems there is something active at the IP adress where the IPMI was located (i can ping the adress), but no IPMI interface I can get on this adress, so I also can't fullfill the 2nd part and update the BIOS to 10.05. The heartbeat LED of the IPMI is not blinking anymore its just on all the time.

All in all this Asrock board has been a bad experience, not only were my NVME drives dropped for no reason, the update process as well seems to be flawed, of course there is a warning with this procedure, but flashing OK 100% and then still being bricked after a reset is a nogo. Also the fact there is not 1 official alternative bios (not a beta), is weird to say the least for such a professional board. Anyway agreed with my supplier to return the bricked board, and I will get my money back and will go for another board.

The hardware of this board is the best you can find, the board has everyhting you would want, but the software is another story..
