Hello!

So it turned out to be a faulty i9 9900k Processor. The had received a computer with the same problem as me, with the same processor, so it looks like there are bad batches of i9:s hanging around. CSM is on in my system. Yeah I removed the battery for about half an hour, tried different BIOS versions and nothing helped. CSM is disabled. I actually went ahead and took the computer to the store where I bought all the parts, where they would try with different hardware so we'll see. I am guessing it's a hardware error with some of the other parts and not something with the motherboard but your insights has been helpful. Doesn't sound good.

Did you pull the CMOS Battery out and let the system sit like that for a few minutes to drain the CMOS? Grasping at straws here.

I am using Samsung Evo 970, which is a M.2 NVME drive, and have been using AHCI in BIOS for that. Is there some other way it should be done?

DPC Watchdog Violation in Windows 10 is a known issue and is related to the problems loading AHCI Drivers. Lots of threads on that issue in Google.

What type of Hard Drive are you using in your build? Is it M.2 or standard SSD?

Can you try a different Hard Drive and repeat the install?

I assume you have cleared CMOS, but try that as well if you haven't done so.

Is the usb stick correctly formatted? If I remember it needs to be fat 32. Just got done doing my Z390 Taichi Ultimate build, might be able to help here.

What does your BSOD error say exactly? That would be helpful in troubleshooting.

Is your PC set up for RAID or AHCI? Mine build was RAID 0 using 2 Samsung 950 Pro drives, and I was having trouble with the Intel RST driver. It was causing a BSOD saying Unrecognized Boot Device.

I was trying to restore my old system backup using Acronis Universal Restore. Everything worked until the OS tried to boot. It would not properly load the RAID driver upon OS loading, and threw up the BSOD.

What I ended up doing was a clean Windows 10 install from a bootable USB Thumb Drive. I initialized the RAID first in BIOS and then the clean install worked just fine. I didn't even have to provide the RAID driver, as Windows 10 install detected it straight away.

Sometimes you need to do the Win 10 thumbdrive install using the USB 2.0 ports, I remember having to do that on my old Asrock Extreme7+, although I didn't have to do that on this board, the USB 3.0 port worked fine.

Make sure you are not overclocking anything to start with. Also, I updated the BIOS to 1.90. My board came with 1.60. I did this before the Win 10 installation hoping that was my problem, but I still had to do the clean install.

Anyway, a lot of stuff, maybe it helps, if not, posting the BSOD error will help find the answer.
