ASRock (and others) seem slow to adapt despite USB4 being backward compatible. Maybe they?re catering to broader markets, but a clean design with multiple USB4 and fewer legacy ports would definitely appeal to power users. Hopefully, they?ll start listening.
Thank for link.

Edited by Xaltar - 23 Dec 2025 at 4:43pm

    Author: ubronan
Subject: 108701
Posted: 15 May 2025 at 6:29am

I do not understand that almost all new mobo's have way too much old usb ports
I have almost nothing which does use these ports and if it does i can use a tiny plugin which makes sure i can connect to ages old usb ports into a usb C port
I wanted to get rid of the crappy asus proart as it is a piece of garbage and always has issues with memory making it a very unstable mobo which lets devices disappear or crashes almost every day at some point
Been with it to several repair shops and non where able to solve the issue
At some of them the pc was away for several months and confirmed they could not get it stable and gave up but of course let me pay a lot of money for not solving the issue
Who the hell uses in this time any old usb ports anyway there are enough handy docking products where old stuff can be connected and gets plugged in a usb 3/4 port and works like charm
So tons of useless ports on the pc is not needed ever again sure you need at least 2 x usb4 on the top and about 3 or 4 usb 3/4 on the back of the pc the rest is no longer needed
I have been working with BT keyboards and mouses but in a short time they die as the battery won't last long for these things so another no go for a daily usage of at least 12 to 16 hours
TV and all the rest is on the pc so nothing else is needed in my house.
I love your Taichi board model but it lacks the needed ports and way too much garbage ports which i never ever will use.
Now before you write but it has 4 ports on the back but it is only one 20 Gbit the other is again a slowboat 10 Gbit.
As i do not like that at all as usb 4 ports are backwards compatible i preffer to see faster ports and i actually would instant buy a good MB with 4 to 6 usb 4 ports on the back and as my case top has 2 old usb 3 ports the square ones and one usb c 3.2 port
As that is where i can pluin the 20 old usb sticks i have could be used to get back to the old info on them ( yes i once in a while take the data of and test them if they are still fine to use
But in time even these will have to go as they are just safety tools incase disaster strikes so backups of all kinda stuff on every stick i have for and yes each stick has a backup one ... no i am not paranoid but have learned my lessons about degrading hardware in the hard way so 4 or 5 backups of everything at different places and devices
som simply put i do not like the current x870e board as they have way too much not usable portson the back.
now let me be honest the new 10 Gbit nics are all crappy as they constant give massive problems
My old intel 10 Gbit dual port one does never fail but still this mobo i use is a disaster which i paid too much for.
Any other solution is not present yet which does not house a lot of never to use ports on the back.
And then the overkill on power around the cpu is clear these are totallyu useless and make people whtink it is better but it is never needed
So why the overkill sure a bit extra is ok
Oh and btw who the hell needs these days more than 1 pci-e x16 and 2 x8 slots
I can not imaging anyone using them in this era
So please Asrock make a proper board with enough very fast usb ports and for the older ones a few extra usb-c 3.2 ports the rest is not needed
Except on the front panel one where 2 ports is more than enough for the old devices
