It has been just over a week since i originally posted my issue. It hasn't happened since. I was waiting for the issue to happen again so i could try the 4 steps and see what the culprit was. Apparently D2 is a PCH initialization error. It doesn't neccessarily mean a damaged board however, anything connected to the board that goes through the PCH (basically all your IO) could cause this error. So, to troubleshoot you will want to do the following:

1. Disconnect everything from the board including front panel connections (power, reset etc). Make sure you disconnect your SATA cables from the board not the drive end to rule out bad cables.
2. Reconnect only your 24pin and 8pin power leads to the board as well as your GPU and it's requisite power leads.
3. With only the display connected (no keyboard, mouse or usb devices) power on the system and check for post.
4. If you still get the D2 error the board may have a fault, if not, connect devices one at a time powering on and testing for post in between. Repeat until you receive the code, the last device you connected will be your culprit.

All this must be done with the front panel connectors disconnected. You can then connect just the power switch for testing purposes. If you get the D2 error in the bare config then try disconnecting the power switch again and using the reset switch in it's place, a bad power/reset switch can cause all kinds of issues.

Hello, this is my first post on this forum, i apologise in advance if anything is wrong. Anyway, to begin, I built my PC in January last year, and i have not had a single issue with it so far. As of this past week my PC wasnt posting all the time and i would get the d2 error code on the Dr.Debug led. Sometimes i get it to work after a couple restarts, other times not so much. I dont know if the board is having some issues because 2-3 weeks ago i was having issues with the rear usb ports. My Corsair K70 was connected to the same port for a year and all of a sudden that port freezes up the kb and the rgb lights go blue with non responsive keys. I should also mention that i tried some previous remedies from a post in april last year that says to reseat the cpu, try 1 ram stick and to clear cmos. Still the same issue.
