I'll see what my psu options are when my next payday comes along.
It just sucks that I get this motherboard, after 15 years of building pcs this is the biggest headache I've had, first the onboard audio doesn't work so I have to buy a soundcard, the ethernet was unstable so to get around that I've bought a completely new cat 7 cable and a m.2 wifi module just so I have a backup.

    Author: Xaltar
Subject: 11151
Posted: 21 Mar 2019 at 1:57am

So removing the M.2 drive does not allow the system to POST?

Is this your PSU?
https://www.novatech.co.uk/products/novatech-750w-atx-power-supply/ad-e750ae-a6.html

If so, get a better PSU with a single 12v rail of at least 46A, 50A would be a good number. That PSU has multiple (4) 12v rails which basically means it's 750w rating is simply combining the power rating of all 4 12v rails for a total of 750w minus the 5 and 3.3v rails. I also don't trust the specs on the site. If it had 4 12v rails at 32A it would be a 1500w unit so I am going to guess that it only has 2 rails @32A which makes +/- 760w combined. Either way, it is no good for a gaming system. If you have only a single 12v rail hooked up to your system you are basically running a 380w PSU. This could well be the cause of a lot of your headaches.

It isn't that you picked a bad brand or a cheap unit, this issue can happen even with expensive PSUs. Basically, multiple 12v rails on a sub 1000w PSU = bad for a gaming system. Whatever PSU you get, make sure it is 80+ certified, at least Bronze certification. That should keep you safe from the nasty cheap PSUs that stretch the truth and state "max power draw" (point of failure) rather than normal load specs.

You can test to see if this is part of your problem while you wait for a new unit by splitting the load on your PSU as evenly as possible. Make sure your GPU is on one rail by itself and the rest of the system on the other. If it powers up and POSTs you can be certain the PSU is behind the issue, if not, you will need to wait till you have a better PSU to test further.

Let us know how you get on

It would also help if you label new/reused components as well as anything you have already tried replacing. Every once in a while you come across a build with gremlins, I think a lot of us here on the forums can relate. There is always a solution so lets see if we can find it
