There is only one GPU installed and no other drives besides the Corsair M.2. Is this a good slot or should it be moved to the 2_1 slot?

I went from a standard SSD to the M.2 and speeds seem to be slower now. I have not done any benchmarks to test this yet. Is there anything special in the BIOS I need to adjust?
