I completely forgot about this post, haha.

I finally found my issue after contacting AMD support, it ended up being my CPU the whole time. It turns out that the memory controller on my AMD Ryzen 1600 AF was faulty somehow, which also gave me the RAM error indication light on boot on another motherboard. I ended up finally fixing the problem when replacing my CPU with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500 (I think any AM4 CPU will do, but I just picked a cheap option for now).

I hope this works for you aswell.

I have read the rules, and if I do make a mistake in the duration of this text anyway, please tell me so I don't do something wrong for future posts.

Anyway, as you can see in the title, I have a B450M-HDV R4.0, which I bought used with BIOS version P3.70 and upgraded to P4.50. My processor is the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF (I believe, ChatGPT has assisted me with this diagnostic) and I currently have two sticks of 8GB DDR4 RAM at 2400MTs installed. I have an RTX 2060 Super by KFA2 installed and an NVMe SSD from Samsung seated on the motherboard.

Alright, now when I try to start the system, everything seems to work at first glance. I see the ASRock boot logo with some text in the bottom right corner, then after some seconds I can see the Windows loading wheel on the screen from the Windows installation stick I have plugged in at the back (in a USB 2.0 plug).
Then, after a short period of time, the screen suddenly turns pitch black (no video delivered from the graphics card anymore) and I get a message on my monitor that there's no signal coming from the HDMI input, but the power light on the PC case still stays lit.

Sometimes my PC then retries the boot process about two to four times before just not delivering any image anymore (weirdly enough, the power LED still stays lit and the fans are blowing, but it's doing nothing), and sometimes the PC doesn't even retry the boot and just doesn't deliver any video anymore (also still with the power LED lit and the fans blowing).

I myself am pretty good with PCs, but I have never encountered such a problem before, this is why I am posting on this forum here because I can't find any exact matching cases to mine. I have also tried to install Ubuntu Desktop, Linux Mint Cinnamon and Windows 10, and all seem to load up at first and then the PC just resets (same problem as described above).

However, stuff like Memtest86 and the UEFI seem to work completely. I have already fully tested my RAM with Memtest86 and it shows no errors.

I have already tried so much that I have read and gathered from online resources like reseating the RAM and booting with only one stick, checking thermals in the UEFI for overheating, flashing UEFI (from version P3.70 to P4.50), changing the CPU thermal paste, swapping/testing PSU and GPU, doing a full CMOS reset, booting from a SATA SSD with Windows 10 preinstalled and enabling/disabling CSM, Fast Boot or Secure Boot. Also, I've done a full case swap, but that most definitely isn't relevant.

Please let me know if you have anything I could try with my setup.

Thanks

I also got the same issue. Did you find any solution?

Edited by Xaltar - 25 Jul 2025 at 1:22pm
