Windows 11 24H2 was and/or has turned into total crap and is now deleting files/damaging files/corrupting files on people systems, also disappearing drives, ssd, hdd, external hdd, flash drives/disk, you name it.

Especially with recent Windows 11 24H2 updates from august 2025.

So many drives are affected it's unlikely that this is all firmware/drive issues ? more likely that something is deeply wrong with windows 11 24h2 way of handling the file system.

So:

NO ! It's not your hardware at fault ! More likely a gigantic Microsoft blunder in the making !
