Unfortunately I don't own any 600 series boards so I have no idea how the BIOS is
laid out and what settings there are. Take a look through all the settings under
"graphics features" and see if any of them are relevant. Maybe one of our members
here knows the right settings to look at. Failing that, do what I do and try different
things until something sticks. You don't need to play with any voltages/dangerous
settings for this so a simple clear CMOS will resolve any issues that could arise.

It could also be that your GPU doesn't recognize the display with the cable you
are using. If you have other cables you can give them a try. It may want a newer
standard cable than the one you are using. The motherboard will be more forgiving

thank you @Xaltar and sorry about my incorrect terminology, by external gpu i meant a graphics card plugged directly into the motherboards pcie slot, the internal i was referring to the motherboards own hdmi socket run from the ryzens internal gpu

I have the motherboard bios set to prioritise external gpu thinking that meant the graphic's card so is this incorrect?

Is the RTX3050 installed inside your system or is it an eGPU (in it's own enclosure
outside of the case)? I just noticed you said "external GPU". If it is external
then this is normal operation. The UEFI lacks driver support for external GPUs, this
would be highly impractical with the amount of space it would take up on the BIOS
ROM. As soon as the OS loads and detects the external GPU things will work as
normal.

If the system won't boot at all without a display connected to the onboard output
then you can try hooking up a second display cable to your monitor, most support
more than one input. This is the price we pay for external GPUs, it can require
some messing around to get things working.

If it is an internal GPU (I suspect this is the case given you said low
profile), then try different display outputs from the card. Some GPUs will have
a preferred output and won't output a display until windows if it's not used.

If that still doesn't get things working then check page 63 (67 in the PDF) of
your software/BIOS setup guide for the UEFI settings to do with your primary
display output.

yes once the computer is boot ed to windows I can unplug the hdmi and plug it into the 3050 and use windows as normal
