BIOS 3.40. Running Fedora 42.
I have a DVD writer connected to an IDE to SATA adapter.
Problem is that the BIOS polls that port several times a day and 2-3 times at start. Any way to disable that without unplugging the writer ?

The proper behavior would be not to poll the drive but wait for a signal that a disk has been inserted. That's the way it always worked on my old Asrock Fatal1ty Killer.

```
$ journalctl -b -1 --no-hostname|grep sr0
nov 11 05:17:48 kernel: sr 2:0:0:0: [sr0] scsi3-mmc drive: 48x/48x writer dvd-ram cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
nov 11 05:17:48 kernel: sr 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0
nov 11 10:18:31 fwupd[4798]: 15:18:31.212 FuEngine             failed to add device /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/0000:01:00.1/ata3/host2/target2:0:0/2:0:0:0/block/sr0: failed to subclass open: failed to open /dev/sr0: Operation not permitted
nov 11 10:18:31 fwupd[4798]: 15:18:31.216 FuEngine             failed to add device /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/0000:01:00.1/ata3/host2/target2:0:0/2:0:0:0/block/sr0: failed to subclass open: failed to open /dev/sr0: Operation not permitted
nov 11 15:58:29 kernel: sr 2:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#4 FAILED Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_OK cmd_age=0s
nov 11 15:58:29 kernel: sr 2:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#4 Sense Key : Not Ready [current]
nov 11 15:58:29 kernel: sr 2:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#4 Add.
