It sounds
like you either need a BIOS update or alterations to the kernel you are wanting
to use.

If you have not already, ask in the distro groups of the linux versions you are
using as well as the kernal development group responsible for 9.7+. It may be
a known issue or even a bug they are not aware of.

I am afraid my own linux knowledge is not what it used to be. I hope this helps.

    Author: jakegrimmett
Subject: 113448
Posted: 10 Feb 2026 at 8:29pm

Dear ASRock

We have a large number (30) of systems using WRX90 WS EVO motherboards.

Great motherboard, but unfortunately Almalinux 9.7 and RockyLinux 9.7 can't boot on the system that we use for testing software updates.

We can install Almalinux 9.6, but if we update from here to Alma 9.7, and load the kernel that comes with 9.7, causes the system immediately reset. We can use the 9.6 kernel after the update OK.

Any attempt to PXE boot to Almalinux 9.7 or 10.1 will also cause the system to reset.

We have a large number of systems ( 21 node HPC cluster + 8 workstations) running Almalinux 9.6 so this is really important.

As you imagine, we are reluctant to update another system as we suspect the update will break the system.

We are using the latest 11.06 BIOS.

Any advice welcome.

Jake
