AM3+ is fully backward compatible with all AM3 CPUs so yes your phenom will work with any AM3+ board. It is only AM2/AM2+ CPUs that are no longer supported. I have a question regarding this mainboard

980DE3/U3S3 Revised GA 1.03

Will it support AM3 CPU's or only AM3+, I've been looking online for a proper answer for the last few hours but no luck.

Is it just the 980DE3/U3S3 Revised 2.0 that will support AM3?

I have a Phenom II X4 925 from my old PC that I want to use in that mainboard.
