Have you tried using a Vid card that does work, then go into BIOS and enable CSM compatibilty before trying one of those older Geforce cards. You can find it on the BOOT page. I have a computer who's sole purpose is to stress test different graphics card for resale. Sometimes, when it comes to certain older graphics cards, the mainboards 5 long beeps, pause a few seconds, then a short "good POST" beep, but the screen remains black. The HDD light flashes a lot so it's reading something, then the screen turns on when at desktop.

So far that I remember, I get this on 2 identical EVGA GeForce GTX 470 1.25GB graphics cards. I haven't gotten around to the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 1.5GB but I think it will have the same problem.
