I came from a MSI motherboard, and although it was 7 years old, it seemed to be layed out better than the asrock version. I watched a bunch of videos now and see that ASROCK's MB config is very basic and old school compared to a lot of other manufacturers. I had the same issue with approved corsair 3600 ram. Unlike the others saying "that's early adoption for you" or "don't fix something that works" I will say this:

AMD made a big deal about improving CPU performance with later BIOS updates, so I don't blame you for updating it. I also don't blame you for expecting memory on their approved list to work after a bios update.

I personally back-stepped through the BIOS revisions until i found one that let the system boot with XMP enabled. For me, it was 1.21. I still have mssive issues with precision boost 2 not actually boosting worth a damn, so I've settiled on a manual all-core overclock and bios 1.21 with XMP ram profiles. Then I'll wait a few months and see if there's a bios revision that works better.

Xaltar is right on this one. Don't fix something that works. But, proving that something doesn't work is pretty much like proving that something doesn't exist - not really tenable through the means of logic and reasoning. Just because you don't see it crashing it doesn't mean it's fully stable even with 1.10. Pretty certain things got more agressive from the BIOS' perspective in newer versions too.

Pump the DDR voltage just 1 or 2 steps from its XMP default and make sure the GearDown mode is activated (it's on the chipset features page under IMC - integrated memory controller tab). That's early adoption for you. In many cases an update will go backwards for some and forwards for others, it tends to take a while before everyone sees forward motion. If you are stable with 1.10 then I would stick to it for about a month and check for updates again then. Even then however, I tend to avoid updating unless I have an issue.

I recently built a new AM4 computer and here is the build info

ASRock Tai Chi x570 MB
Ryzen 3900X
HyperX 4000mhz ram set under XMP 2 @ 3600Mhz (on QML as approved)
Samsung SM961 M.2
WD Black M.2
Gigabyte 2070 Super GPU
Windows 10 Pro-fresh install and updated to current.

I had zero issues with build and first startup etc, however, when I tried to flash bios to 1.60 from 1.10 which was ship bios, it became unstable using the same settings. I have to clock back to 3200Mhz for it to remain stable or it just keeps rebooting when it tries to load windows. It is not giving me any errors in bootlog. I am using straight default bios settings, only changing ram to the XMP profile to get to 3600Mhz and setting my fans more aggressively, absolutely no other bios changes. I am not having temp issues and hold at 52 degrees on boot.
Any thoughts?
