Author: albinoninja
Subject: 12605
Posted: 07 Oct 2019 at 1:30am

Hey I just built a new mATX computer, finally got everything together and booted it to install Windows but it is not recognizing my NVMe storage. I initially used a Samsung 970 EVO and then today picked up a cheaper Inland to compare. Neither were recognized.

I installed them both in the M2 Ultra slot, not the M2_2. My other HDDs and SSD are all recognized. I even left the SATA3 open even though that is just for the M2_2.

Everything else seems to be working. Is there something about the PCIe timing or something I need to initialize in BIOS? Or is it perhaps just faulty and (ugh!) do I need to RMA my motherboard and have the fun time of putting it all together again?

Thanks for any input or help y'all can offer!

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2dCkL2

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock B450M PRO4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB MINI ITX OC Video Card
Case: Rosewill FBM-X1 MicroATX Mini Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX
