I had similar issues with my daughters setup and it turned out to be the Intel WiFi drivers .. on another rig was having crashes due to ram not being able to run at it's spec timings so dialed them back and it is now stable..

Have you tried a fresh install of windows (of which you will want to do anyways before you pass it on to anybody) .. and your current windows should be at .418 instead of .388

but what your describing sounds more like a driver issue possibly .. but check your event viewer logs and it should point you to what your issue is

    Author: Habylab
Subject: 12798
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 at 5:05pm

Hi there,

My computer build of 5 or 6 years keeps hard freezing, requiring a forced reset. It can happen whilst doing nothing or pushing the PC, after five minutes or four hours.

I have run memtest86 for 8 passes, zero hours. I have updated and reset my bios. I have also checked the voltage of my RAM, turns out it was set to 1.6v when the sticks said 1.5v, but still freezing.

Trying Prime95 I have had no freezes after an hour but also freezes after 5 mins. Currently running it again in safe mode to see if it happens still, which I think I have tried once before with the same issue.

Another issue I have faced for a while, is that I cannot plug in an external drive. I have tried multiple drives, and they all work fine on other computers.

Admittedly, the build has not been cleaned too regularly but I cleaned it last night and still issues.

I'm considering a new build anyway, but want to fix this first so I can pass it onto a friend. My first instinct is power supply unit, but it could be the mobo also.

Specs below:

>Operating System
>Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, 1903, 18362.388

>CPU
>AMD FX-6300

>PSU
>Corsair 2013 Edition Gamer Series GS 600w '80 Plus Bronze' PSU

>RAM
>8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)

>Motherboard
>ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 (CPUSocket)

>Graphics
>4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 (MSI)

>Storage
>223GB Crucial CT240BX200SSD1 ATA Device (SATA (SSD))

Any help appreciated!
