Yep 2.13A is what I'm running now. Temps are as shown below with Core Boost enabled. Clear correlation between Core Boost being enabled (to get to 4.3) and those temp oscillations. When disabled, temps are rock solid steady. I see this as AGESA bug.

1. Enhance AMD XFR 2.0 function; change AMD PBO rule with Pinnacle CPU.

According to BIOS, on 2.13A, AGES is 1.0.0.1 :(

Really what I'm after is finding a good balance between stock settings/capabilities (Core Boost) without the extreme temp and fan cycling. This likely warrants a separate thread.

Your board is newer than the release of AGESA 1.0.0.6
So the first bios version already is based on that, i guess.
2.13A is the newest for 2xxx, yes.
I would not use 2.3, the begin of Matisse support.
I cannot say anything related to bugs or fixes.

Thanks for the verbose response. I believe it highlights some perhaps misunderstanding I had of the relationship/reliance between motherboard manufactures and AMD.

So if I understand correctly AGESA development was forked by AMD in order to develop Ryzen 3xxx processor support. 1.0.0.4b is the unified release, bringing back together 2xxx and 3xxx support. While this has been released from AMD, ASRock is still working to implement this AGESA into their BIOS.

For Gen2 specifically however, 1.0.0.6 would be ideal. However ASRock has not released a bios with this AGESA, presumably to focus efforts toward 1.0.0.4b (which would include 1.0.0.6 Gen2 final support)?

Am I understanding this all correctly? If so then I'll stay on the lookout for the final!

In the meantime this still leaves the question: which the highest bug free BIOS version for 2xxx, currently? Did 2.30 introduce any fixes from 2.13A?

All the bios versions containing AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.1 up to Combo-AM4 1.0.0.3(ab/b/a) are focused on the Gen3/Matisse CPUs.

According to the latest infos from AMD, AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.4b is supporting all Ryzen generations:

AGESA Combo-AM4 0.0.7.2: Support new Athlon 2xxGE series APU.
Don't know, if Gen1 and Gen2 CPUs are fully supported.

AMD AGESA 1.0.0.6: Final PinnaclePI-AM4 and SummitPI version.
So currently a bios version with this AGESA should be the best for a 2700X until a bios with AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.4b or higher will be available. That should be the case soon.

I think we could benefit from some official clarification on the BIOS releases for the B450M Steel Legend motherboard. According to the release 'notes' (if you want to call them that), v2.50 should be fine for Ryzen Zen+. However there is conflicting information in the forum here that nothing beyond 2.13 should be used.

Can we get the official changelogs for each release? There are more changes than simply those in the notes. At some point there were additional therm/temp options added (hysteresis, namely) in the advanced CPU options. This is listed nowhere in the notes.

If nothing else, what is the latest stable for 2700X + B450M Steel Legend?
