Connecting an ATX 12V 4-pin cable to ATX12V2 is optional.<br />*For advanced overclocking we suggest using this connector together with ATX12V1..."<br /><br />It does not say anything else or more detailed: thank you for every reply!]]>

Not using it means more current being pulled through the 8 pin<br />which in turn creates more heat on that power circuit. Regardless of needed or not<br />there is an actual benefit to connecting it, better efficiency and possibly less<br />heat around the connector and related components. ]]>

I am using a Corsair RM750x, several years old, and they do not provide such a cable.  I don't remember my X399 Taichi having such a requirement.<br />]]>
