Author: Nmitsia
Subject: 13963
Posted: 19 Oct 2020 at 3:22pm

Hello,

Having issues on 2x Asrock X570 Creator also. I run a creative agency (4K Video Editing Stations), Asrock X570 Creator was to only way to achive 10gb lan at reasonable price. Also read reviews and and it seemed as a very stable - solid platform.

The problems appear on both of the mobos so its not logical to say that issues exist because of faulty parts.

My PC'S
ASRock x570 Creator (BIOS V3.00)
AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT
Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4
Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO CMW64GX4M2D3600C18
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB GAMING GV-N166SGAMING-6GD
Sabrent Rocket Q 2 TB
2X Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB HDD ST4000DMZ04/DM004
Corsair RM850X

Issue no. 1: The RAM will not clock above 2166MHz. My ram is Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO CMW64GX4M2D3600C18 . Other users report XMP profiles working right. In my case if i use XMP profile 7/10 times it will not even post with 8d error code. When it posts and W10 Boots something really weird happens. It will run stable even benchmarks - stress tests at full on Prime95 and Aida64 (even with AMD Ryzen Master Auto OC) up to 2.5 hours tested on all scenarios with no errors. Then at random, it might be task manager or opening a project on Da Vinci Resolve 16 or even Windows Explorer that instantly shuts down the PC. No BSOD, just instant power off. Also tried changing RAM pairs, also lanes, also the other pair that i have available. I even used DRAM Calculator for Ryzen exported my RAM Timings from Thaiphoon Burner to see timings and import them manually on BIOS (for 3600C18). No luck at all.

Issue no. 2: Generall stability issues when RAID driver is on. When i run the system on RAID 0 on 2X Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB, also sometimes it will not boot with 8d error code.

Currently i run on 2166MHz and on Windows Software raid to have at least a working pc.

As far as i understand Hardware is not the issue. BIOS Software seems to be bad and under-enginered(?).

Please any help would be greatly apreciated!

Author: DicusBarbavici
Subject: 13963
Posted: 01 Apr 2020 at 7:10pm

Last week I put together a new computer as an audio workstation. Running Ableton using a Focusrite Clarett Thunderbolt 2 Interface. At least that was the plan. I have stumbled upon two major problems and after three days of tinkering start to think it might maybe be a faulty Motherboard. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

PC
ASRock x570 Creator
AMD Ryzen 9 3900x boxed
Powercolor Red Devil 5700XT
2x32GB 3000 MT/S Corsair DDR4
M.2 1TB SSD
Windows 10

Problem 1
No Thunderbolt connection. I am using an apple TB2 to TB3 connector to get my focusrite Clarett 8Pre interface to work but to no avail. I have had a couple of different stages of not working. But whichever BIOS I flash, whatever driver combinations I try it does not seem to work.
The only other Thunderbolt device I have is a Ethernet to TB2 connector which I connected to the Apple TB2 to TB3 connector which also did not get recognized in any way on my computer.

Problem 2
DDR4 memory not being recognized and XMP profile not working. I just receive the new Corsair DDR which are on the Qualified Vendor List, as the memory I had before G.Skill Ripjaws 2x16 3600Mhz did only work at 2166Mhz and selecting the XMP profile made my bios restart 4 times after which the bios reverted back to non XMP and actually got to the post message. The new Corsair DDR4 only recognizes one of the two modules (in A2, not the one in B2) and is not able to run on anything else then 2166Mhz either.

Problem 3
Which is probably very related to problem 2 it takes a long time for the post message to display. Somewhere between 20 and 30 seconds. After post everything is quick but till then it takes long. Also once in every three tries the computer does not even get to post and I have to kill it and restart. I had hoped to fix this by switching to memory that was on the QVL but problem remains.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASRock/comments/fsllzn/getting_thunderbolt_3_to_work_on_x570_creator_for/ this is the reddit post I did previous to trying the corsair memory slot which made problem 2 en 3 evident. Has got some more in depth about the thunderbolt things I have already tried.

If anyone has got any suggestions they are very welcome.

I paid quite a bit of money for this motherboard, the X570 Creator isn't cheap and had hoped to have a solid Thunderbolt experience and definitely did not expect these memory problems. Could it be a faulty motherboard or are these three resolvable problems?
