Unfortunately I had grown so frustrated with issues with the motherboard that I bought the Asus board I mentioned above to replace it so I cannot tear the build down just to try the new BIOS. I am just going to consider the ASRock board off as an expensive lesson. I purchased it because I needed a lot of PCIe lanes (hence the i9-9900X CPU and X299 chipset) to accommodate a RAID controller and at least one 10G network interface (I need 10G for the large virtual machine appliances I produce and video files that I work on and back up to my server.)

Other than the boot freezes and the long RMA time (though I can definitely understand that during these times), I also had problems with the Aquantia 10G interface dropping packets when it was running for the day (connecting with a Dell/Force10 S3048-ON running OS10 10.5.1.1). I tuned it for jumbo frames and also matched the flow control and port speed with the switch. This is why I switched to an Intel X520 interface and have seen no issues with the interface performance.
