I have a ASRock Z270 Killer SLI I've had it a few years. A little while ago some of my fans quit working. Looking into it 2 of my fans quit the ones plugged into the fan 1 and 3 slots (the slot 2 plug up by the CPU still works fine). When i look in the ASRock menu it doesn't show anything plugged in. I have my fans plugged up to the power now but obviously I would rather the motherboards plugs to work so it can control them and they're not always at full throttle. Not sure if it matters since they should work anyway but all the fans are 3 pin.
