I had a USB headset until recently. My friend gave me his expensive headset...tat uses the regular audio inputs...

I tried both the front ports and the rear ports. The MIC sometimes can get real low but most of the time I cannot hear anything. All of my settings are correct in terms of MIC level and boost...the headset works perfectly on my HP laptop.

I have heard this is an issue with realtek and mics...any way to fix this?
