Regarding your question about M.2, M.2_2 slot mainly supports PCIe type M.2.
When SATA type M.2 is used, please installed to M.2_2 slot.

This board X570 Steel Legend WiFi ax provide two M2 slot, but my WD Blue 3D 2TB SATA M.2 can be detected on M2_2 slot. When trying to install at M2_1 no detect.
I have tried to clear CMOS without success. Is my board malfunction and need a replace one?
