Author: wedgef5
Subject: 15281
Posted: 20 Aug 2020 at 11:57pm

What is the point of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver/software? I installed it on my new H470 Phantom Gaming 4 with a Core i5-10400, and it ended up pegging one of my CPU cores at 100% nearly constantly. I uninstalled it and everything is fine now. It didn't even seem to affect the RAID1 I set up in BIOS.

Further, why is the download for RST that is available from the ASRock website already obsolete? When I tried to run the GUI, it referred me to an Intel website for a version of RST that was marked EOL, and that page referred me to another page that said basically "You really should use the version of RST that your motherboard maker provides".

From my perspective, the whole RST package seems completely pointless.

Matt
