Had to hook up a VGA monitor.

For some reason, after installing the M.2, it would not boot to my graphics card or the integrated HDMI.

I reset BIOS and tried previously working SSD drives. Installed new RAM and also tried the old RAM, etc.

Apparently it was booting and asking me to hit F1 to continue with the cleared CMOS changes.

Hopefully this helps someone. I was about to order a new motherboard.

Specs:
Asrock z390 Pro4
GTX 1080
Intel i5-9600
128GB RAM (Crucial Pro RAM 64 GB DDR4 3200MHz)
4TB M.2 (Samsung)
It's been the like this
for quite a while now. A large number of the RAM related issues we see here on the
forums have been because of the wrong slots being populated. For some reason modern
CPUs don't like slots A1 and B1 being used exclusively. The only explanation I have
ever found is "slots A2 and B2 are the preferred slots" and that they are "optimized
for performance". I suspect it may also have to do with heat, slots A2 and B2
are further from the CPU and it's cooler.
