I got my eye on that 5900x for my x470 board, and upgrading to a RTX 3070 but I want to wait until the rumored 3070 16GB model if it's true. One thing I did notice the stock ram speed is still at 3200mhz for the new Zen 3 cpu's. I thought they would bump it up. Now I want to buy 32GB 3600mhz CL16 or if I can CL14 to replace my 16GB 3200mhz ram. I don't want to O/C my current ram I'll just sell it :D

I mean AMD did say they are supporting B450/X470 boards with Zen 3 with a beta BIOS, and you will need proof of the Zen 3 CPU you bought because that will be a one way upgrade, you can't go back to a previous BIOS. All will be revealed on Oct. 8th :D
Driving sales, particularly of stock that has already been manufactured,
will always be a priority for manufacturers.

Historically, ASRock tends to be on the forefront offering support for new launches.
More often than not, they provide support where other manufacturers don't.

All that said, who will support what will ultimately only be 100% clear once
Zen 3 launches. AMD may change their minds about backward support or how far
back they will permit. Bare in mind, this support will only be possible through
AGESA updates for the older platforms, AGESA code AMD is exclusively able to
provide. Without it, no one can add support no matter how much they want to.

All I can say, from past experience, is that if one manufacturer adds support,
all will.

    Author: T1125P
Subject: 16739
Posted: 06 Oct 2020 at 4:20am

Hi all, so I asked a question about Zen 3 support to ASRock and well this is the answer and also will include the email responses:

" Hello, not a problem but a question about the new AMD Zen 3 CPU's that will be coming soon. With the announcement due on October 8th from AMD will the x470 Taichi support the new CPU's with a BIOS update?

Thank you "

ASRock:

"Eric

Hello,

The X470 will not support AMD Zen 3 cpu, only X570 and B550 chipset."

Now my repsonse:

" Oh, but from what AMD said "AMD Reverses Course, Will Enable Zen 3 and Ryzen 4000 Support on B450 and X470" So ASRock will not support their customers with a BIOS update for Zen 3 then? If that's the case, I'm sorry but that will be the last ASRock product I will buy and will surely forward this information to the ASRock reddit thread as well to let everyone know.

Thank you"

I really hope this is misinformation, because if not then yes that will be my first and last ASRock product. I will go to MSI most likely in the future, because they will support Zen 3 on B450/X470. I do not want to buy another motherboard, so if that's true then I can only upgrade to maybe a 3900XT, from my 3700x. I was hoping to upgade to the new 5900x. I guess we have to wait now and see what happens.
