The 4 pin connector is designed to provide additional power to the system in the advent that you are using triple or quad GPUs. In other words no, you do not need to connect it if the system is using a single or even dual GPU. I'm no expert but I think that the 4-Pin ATX 12V power connector is an upgrade that provides even more power to the mainboard. It isn't required but recommended for stability, especially if you're running hardware components that need a lot of power. The additional power connector would make sense because the Z170 OC Formula is designed for overclocking. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

On themotherboard there is 4-pin ATX 12V power connector (used to supply additionalpower to the motherboard) ?? is itmandatory to connect it to the power supply??? I have power supply EnermaxDigifanless 550W, but there is no such a cable (((
