Author: Xaltar
Subject: 17563
Posted: 24 Dec 2020 at 3:45pm

You were not banned, nor do I have any issue with your complaint. You are well within
your rights to be annoyed with the lack of support in your country.

I think you misunderstood the tone of my post. I was merely providing the link
to ASRock's global support and letting you know that if you had sought support
here on the forums that it was not the right place to get a response from ASRock.
Many people come here thinking it is a direct support avenue and get angry when
ASRock does not reply their thread. I try but I cannot read every single thread
made here, I am just one person.

As for my comment about boards, I fully understand what you are saying, I simply
meant that I avoid the very cheapest boards because they lack VRM cooling. These
ultra budget boards cut too many corners to hit the price point they come in at. You
are almost always better served paying a small amount more for the next tier up,
perhaps the Rs. 2000 more for the boards you mentioned.

My advice to you is to purchase whatever board/brand you are comfortable with
that has good support in your region. Again, I am sorry to hear about your issues
this is exactly the point of this forum. I did not ban your previous account and
will look into your login issue on my end.

Good luck.

Edited by Xaltar - 24 Dec 2020 at 3:45pm

But, a company needs to have basic customer support over call. When my PC broke down, I called Gigabyte, it took 3 attempts but my call was connected to the right knowledgable person. I know this is not support page but there is NO support available here in India. What to do then? Dismantle your entire build each time ASRock component develops an issue? How realistic is that?

When issues are raised in a community their team claims I am defaming them. idk how things work out there in Europe but expecting basic customer support is not unreasonable. Also, I went through your previous posts where you are generously giving technical advice. If you are associated in official or unofficial capacity with ASRock then it would cast an ethical shadow over your reply. Please free to ban me because I won't give two hoots about being banned from a community like this.

On the point of buying pricey components.
I was trying to build a PC after a decade that would be budget. A reliable board is the bedrock so that technology can be used by billions of my fellow Indians who CANNOT spend as much as me or my peers from a privileged background. I am genuinely surprised that you much rather comment on the prowess of cheap boards rather than expecting better from companies.

This whole experience of dealing with ASRock has been a ride to remember. The local dealers in India are right. Better to buy MSi, Gigabyte, or ASUS even if the boards are cheap. Just an FYI: this board by no means was 'cheap.' For Rs. 2000 more I could have bought a Tomahawk or TUF. So there's that. Also better not to judge by customer choice but by company products and services.

Thanks,
ProfADK

P.S. I wish I had students as rich so that we all could spend on motherboards and not go for 'budget boards' from manufacturers.
Author: profadk
Subject: 17563
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 at 11:01pm

Hi everyone,

I am Aditya from India. After a decade, I decided to build a PC and went with ASRock A520-M HDV that I bought on 28th October 2020. I am listing the issues here, judge for yourself. Currently, my PC is dead and ASRock customer service is nowhere to be seen.

I have a 3500X with a Gigabyte 2060 coolermaster 650W bronze corsair 8*2 GB RAM Crucial 1TB m.2 which sits on an ASRock board.

Issue 1:

M.2 screw completely shaved off after 1st install, I had to solder the screw tips to get it out. Replaced it with a new screw.

Reached out to ASRock, they sent me m.2 screw specifications. lol. ?

Issue 2:

6 hours ago, my PC went boop dead. I reached out to Gigabyte thinking (secretly hoping) it was a GPU issue but the good folks informed me that is not the cause. I am anyway sending the GPU to be checked tomorrow. PSU is dandy because everything starts but does not boot. The worst part about the entire ordeal is no beeps on this board that would help communicate with the end user.

I am planning to buy either ASUS or Gigabyte's version of A520M-HDV tomorrow but I wanted to inform you all to steer away from ASRock in India at all costs. They DO NOT have any support whatsoever. I am not even sure if the mobo failed but the lack of communication from their end is enough for me to warn fellow PC builders.

Regret buying ASRock,
Aditya Kshirsagar
