I left it on for several minutes w/o any luck. Totally blank screen and the monitor LED is orange indicating that it is connected but receiving no data.

Additionally, I was able to test the memory in another older intel computer. I didn't think they would be compatible but they worked just fine.

So I guess I'm left w/ either a CPU problem or a motherboard problem?

So give it a few minutes.

    Author: isuga
Subject: 17596
Posted: 26 Dec 2020 at 1:35pm

Trying to put together a budget build for my kid. I only do a new build every few years or so and I'm new to AMD Ryzen processors so please be patient with me. I got this parts list online so I think it is all compatible but not sure.

ASRock B450M Pro4
Ryzen 3 3200G
Patriot Viper DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz (PVR416G320C6K)
Thermaltake Smart 500W PSU
ADATA SU635 240GB SATA SSD
XFX Radeon RX 570

I can't get it to post. CPU fan and case fan turns on. As far as I can tell, there are no indicator LEDs on the motherboard itself. If there are, they are all off. I get no signal to the monitor.

I have tried the following:

1) My monitor only has VGA and DVI. (Planning to get new monitor later)
I have tried:
MB (w/o GPU plugged in) HDMI w/ adapter to monitor DVI,
    MB DVI to monitor DVI,
GPU HDMI w/ adapter to monitor DVI,
    GPU DVI to monitor DVI.
Yes, I checked to make sure GPU was also connected to the PSU. Fan and LED on GPU turns on.
Yes, I plugged monitor into my laptop HDMI port using the same cable and the monitor works.

2) Check BIOS version. BIOS version sticker on MB says its P4.30. According to the CPU support page, the 3200G is suppose to be ok w/ P3.30 and above.

3) Checked memory compatibility. I am not completely sure if this is compatible. The 3200G core identifier is "Picasso". I can not find a memory compatibility list for "Picasso" for this board. But the memory I am using is listed for at least a couple of the others.

4) Checked memory. I don't have a way to directly check to make sure that both sets of memory are good. They are brand new and I can't imagine both being bad. However, I started w/ both in A2 and B2. Then tried each in A2 only. Then tried each in all the other slots (single).

5) Finally I pulled the CPU to make sure I didn't bend any pins even though it dropped into the socket w/o any resistance and then re-installed CPU and fan.

Any help would be much appreciated.
