I took it off full range.
Onboard sound has never been that good at anytime. I have always used sound cards. Realtek is ridiculous and lazy drive support is terrible.
I can't believe you can still buy a sound blaster audigy 24 bit. I had one a long long long time ago.

Electra noise can ruin sound in a computer. Rf can not enter now that sound card chips are usual under a light metal cover. But the power line towards can ruin the audio quality.
A very known source is earth connection or better lousy earth connection.
An atx PSU starts to put noise on all it's power lines if the computer is not grounded properly. You can test an other ac connection closer to the ac line in from the counter in your home. If the noise gets lower in another ac socket then sure the earth of the computer is problem number one. Another source are USB connected devices but these days are over. The law here says, that the earthing connection must be measured. i had to place 8 extra earthing poles before this test was accepted.
