Sadly it does sound like (no pun intended.. it is pretty good though, heh) the audio chip has died. Just today I turn on the computer and no sound issue appeared.

Front and backports not working.

Disable and enable sound card, reinstall drivers, bios update/reset, fresh Windows 10 install, fresh Ubuntu install, different speakers, different headphones NOTHING Worked.

I googled the issue and apparently, I'm not the only one with this issue. The motherboard is less than 1 year old so I contacted Asrock support but before they will send it? new MOBO it will probably take weeks .....
