Author: cobb
Subject: 19801
Posted: 09 Nov 2021 at 5:06am

My roommate recently purchased a used PC containing a b450m Pro4 motherboard. Today he noticed that windows was only recognizing 16 of his 32 gb of installed RAM.

I booted into the BIOs and saw that the same thing was reflected there. He is using 32gb of Corsair Vengeance Pro RBG 3200.

The system was registering RAM in slots A1 and A2. To trouble shoot, I removed all the RAM, took the sticks from A1 and A2 as known good sticks and tested them in proper configurations in slots A1+B1, and A2+B2. The system registered them all just fine. Next I took the two sticks that the system was not registering, from the original boot into the BIOs, and tested those in all 4 slots. And they worked in all of them.

Finally, I slapped all 4 sticks back into the system and booted, and they all registered.

He told me that he has noticed it dropping memory multiple times. Is this a common issue for this mobo? or has anyone experienced similar occurrences?

Thanks for any input, will update if the problem persists.
