Author: Xaltar
Subject: 19951
Posted: 15 Dec 2021 at 6:30pm

The problem is that there aren't many desktop class boards that support those CPUs
and the ones that do exist are industrial grade boards which, as you have seen
command a premium. The reason is that these boards are still in production and likely
will continue to be in production for quite some time. A board like this might be
found in a CnC machine or automated water jet and the end user would not be happy
if they need to buy a new machine every time a new range of CPUs come out. As
a result, these products have long production lifespans so replacement parts
remain available. Many of these machines use hardware that is almost 2 years
outdated by the time they are even released. The premium cost comes with special
warranties, quality assurance and other benefits that are of no use to a home
user.

Your best option would be to pick up a used laptop motherboard of ebay, ideally
one that can support PCIe or an external GPU and build a system using that.

Ive searched everywhere and only found one site where it goes for around 300 euro which is way too much for me for just reusing old laptop parts
