This also includes the UEFI/BIOS version you are using now and then?<br><br>What UEFI/BIOS version are you using? Are all the UEFI options set to the same settings as they were when you began using the PC? New UEFI versions can add new options or changes in options that slow down POST. Such as UEFI versions that "Improve DRAM compatibility" can take longer for the memory to POST. UEFI/BIOS updates reset all options to their default values.<br><br>Usually the slowest component to get started are HDDs. A "green" HDD will be the slowest piece of hardware to wake up. That drive may be taking longer to pass its POST testing.<br><br>In my experience, the Z170 platform is not particularly fast to complete POST compared to earlier Intel platforms.<br>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forum.asrock.com/member_profile.asp?PF=2433">Aunmyr</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 2173<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 07 Mar 2016 at 10:13pm<br /><br />Hi,<div><br></div><div>Bought a load of parts to build a new PC at the end of January this year;</div><div><br></div><div>Asrock Z170m Pro4s Mobo</div><div>2x 8GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance 3000 ghz</div><div>1 cruical b200 128GB SSD</div><div>Intel i5 6600 (not o/c)</div><div>wd green 1tb hdd</div><div>Gigabyte GTX 960 4gb&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>when i changed the settings in the bios to a fast boot it started off nice and fast yet over the past week it seems to be taking an age to boot up. &nbsp;It takes the longest amount of time to get past the initial post screen before giving the option to get into the bios, at a guess i reckon its taking about 20 seconds or so before advising i can press del or f2 to enter the bios or f11 to enter the boot screen.</div><div><br></div><div>I am not posting to the logo screen, and in the bios i have set it to wait just 1 second to enter bios before continuing boot sequence.</div><div><br></div><div>The ssd is my boot disc and holds windows 10 64bit</div><div><br></div><div>could use some advice as to what could be the cause of the slow down?</div><div><br></div><div>Many thanks in advance</div>]]>
