Here some test results:

On the ASRock board:
====================
- With Kingston Memory:
--> Single memory module is working in Slots A1 and A2
--> Single memory module is not working in Slots B1 and B2
--> Two memory modules only working when plugged in A1 and A2

- With Memory from another system (G.Skill F4-3200C16D-16GIS):
--> Same results

On another board (ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus) with another CPU (5600X):
======================================================================
- With Kingston Memory:
--> Two Memory modules working as expected in A2 and B2

- With Memory from another system (G.Skill):
--> Two Memory modules working as expected in A2 and B2

With your explanations about the memory controller residing inside the CPU, that leaves two options:
- ASRock board has a problem with B-Channel
- CPU on ASRock board has a problem with B-Channel

At first I tried to reinstall the CPU, look for bent pins, dust in the socket, etc..
--> Same results after reinstall

To check if it is the ASRock board or the CPU I used the CPU from the ASUS board on ASRock board:
--> Everything is now working fine with Kingston or G.Skill RAM

Then I used the CPU from ASRock board on ASUS board:
--> Everything is working fine with G.Skill RAM

These results are not really making sence to me.
If the CPU is faulty, it should not work in ASUS board either.
If the ASRock board is faulty, it should not work with the other CPU.
Both CPU are AMD Ryzon 5600X.

Is it possible that there is a incompatibility between the ASRock board and a CPU with a specific stepping or something like that?
Can't explain....
Also not sure if everythings works as it should internally even with both boards now giving display output.

Author: threadzipper1957
Subject: 22300
Posted: 08 Mar 2022 at 12:03am

Hello Rund,

Try with 1 module independently in A1, then in B1, and repeat for A2 B2.
Try the same with the other module.
When this is working, it means 2 things
1. the memory slots are okay
2. the memory modules are working individually
The memory controller is integrated in the CPU, it is not on the board, and there is a direct link, between pins of the CPU and contacts in the memory slots.
That leaves 2 options
1. The memory controller in the CPU is defective, and for that you should contact your dealer, or AMD support, to get it replaced
2. There is a compatibility problem, with the chips that are used on the memory itself, kingston like many other brands do not produce the PCB's or memory chips, they buy them from other manufacturers like Hynix, Micron, Samsung, Eplida, Nanya, Spectek and others.
Due to a shortage of chips, that started when DDR4 waas introduced, manufacturers tend to buy different brand anbd size ships, but keep using the same partnumber, so you can never tell which chips are on there, one week it has 512MB chips of brand A, nect day, or week it contains 1GB chips from brand B, but the partnumnber never changes.
You can find the optimal memory speed via the AMD website
https://www.amd.com/en/products/specifications/processors
Personally I have very good experience with Patriot Viper, and keep in mind that XMP profiles are supposed to work, not garranteed to work.
Thet should work with every combination of Motherboard, Chipset, and CPU, from all manufacturers.
Sometmems you must set the voltage and timing manually, for this, google for thaipoon burner and ryzen DRAM calculator.
Thaipoon can export the information stord on the SPD chips, on the memory as HTML, Ryzen DRAM calculator can import this file, and calculate better values.
I'm not an expert, but you will find google, most helpfull, and there ar a lot of instruction video's on howto

Same happen when using A1 and B1.
When I plug the modules in Slots A1 and A2, the PC is booting and showing the correct size of 32 GB, but of course is not running in Dual-Channel mode.
I already patched BIOS to Version 1.50.

What can I do to get the modules in Dual-Channel-Mode?
Is there a way Asrock will add support for that modules to the BIOS?

Thanks/regards,
rund
