Meet the latest masterpiece: the Corsair Scimitar! It has incredible RGB capabilities and I was even considering ascending from the previous model....

...only issue is, they apparently dropped saving macros to internal memory, so users can instead save their *color* profiles on that very same memory!! Wow, we see the priorities are set right for a gaming mouse - Well done Corsair! Now their 12 extra mmo buttons are completely bogus (without function) when not installing their *Windows only* and buggy device software on every PC where you want to use that mouse... plus reconfiguring every button plus DPI...
What an upgrade. Not to mention that their bugged software has issues with Steam etc...

Btw razer has a new RGB mouse too :P *facepalm* meet the next gen

Edited by nuc - 29 Mar 2016 at 8:45pm

The only way I can see to do it is using vinyl/tape to wrap things like the PCIe slots, SATA ports etc. The problem with this is that you can't really use vinyl or tape on the heatsinks without compromising cooling. You could "stripe" the heatsinks in the desired colors with tape/vinyl and that should have minimal impact on cooling. Using a removable medium means you can take it all off if you need to RMA. Another method is using decorative plates made of say tin (from soup cans etc) and then painting those to match your theme then using double sided tape to adhere them where you want them, like the decorative plates on the heatsinks in the images you posted. Basically if you can think of a way to make it so you can restore the board to its factory state for RMA it should be fine.

If warranty isn't important to you however there is rather a lot you can do if you are careful and patient. My favorite technique is dye, you can remove the heatsinks from the board, sand them down to bare aluminum/copper then immerse them in clothing dye to color them without effecting thermals too much. Obviously for copper you would need to pick a color that will either go with copper or something dark that will hide it. I would not recommend using paint on the board itself however as that can cause all manner of problems, the right type of paint can be applied to anything removable that has not electrical circuitry involved however, including heatsinks.
