I have both the Fatality X99M Killer/3.1 (just purchased) and the X99E-ITX/ac, which is up and running with a E5-2630L V3. I would like to run a Broadwell-EP on both of these boards. I need a Xeon CPU in order to use the memory ECC feature, which I need. The Broadwell-E is supposed to be released in June2016 and looks to be an i7 equivalent upgrade. I am not so sure it will support ECC and I don't want/need to wait until June.

So when will be able to get my needed upgraded BIOS?

I would not worry about the UEFI/BIOS update to support Broadwell-E type processors never coming for your boards. They will get those updates soon, but I don't know when.

But there is more than just a UEFI/BIOS update needed for Broadwell-E type processors compatibility on X99 boards.

Every previous Intel chipset generation that can be compatible with multiple processor generations (the 6 series, and X79 ) has also required an update of the Intel Management Engine (IME) software, and typically an INF/chipset file update.

The IME and INF updates can only come from one source... Intel. Until Intel provides them for the mother board manufactures, the UEFI/BIOS updates for Broadwell-E is only part of what we need.

I noticed that ASRock began releasing UEFI/BIOS updates for their X99 boards, and then stopped. For example, my ASRock X99 Extreme6/3.1 board does not yet have a UEFI/BIOS update for Broadwell-E processors.

I then remembered that there should be updates to the IME and INF software/file installation programs to support Broadwell-E. I checked ASRock's and other mother board manufactures that are starting to release UEFI/BIOS updates for X99/Broadwell-E for new versions of those two things. As of this date, April 9, 2016, no one has them available.

I also checked Intel's downloads, whom have reduced the availability of IME downloads for a while now, for updates for Broadwell-E IME and INF software. None available there too.

So IMO it makes sense to wait for the release of the IME and INF updates from Intel to go along with the UEFI/BIOS updates for Broadwell-E type processors. All are needed for complete compatibility.

In the past with the other chipsets I listed, simply applying the UEFI/BIOS update for the newly supported processors, without updating the IME and INF software, resulted in strange behavior of those PCs. Preventing users that don't know better from doing that to themselves is better than the alternative.

I have seen and tried to deal with those results in forums for a long time, and am not looking forward to more of the same. Pinch

JUST RECEIVED MAIL FROM ASROCK TSD BIOS version 3.10 as attachment for X99-ITX a/c Mb

updated and installed new chip E5-2696V4 works fine did some load and stress test and benching all went smoothly Very satisfied with the performance of this CPU.

Just comparison E5-2696V4 is 450% faster than I7-5960X.

Very intelligent instructions on core sharing intel has done some changes here.

I did some tests on Single threaded applications and multi threaded applications.

Here it goes

First 8xcores are used by Windows default.

If you start and single threaded app it loaded the coer9 cpu and its turbo goes to 3.7Mhz for processing.

First x8 cores hover from 1200Mhz to 2.8Mhz running windows tasks.

I start next multithreaded App its loads cores 10 to 18 and hoovers around 2.8Mhz.

If you start another single threaded app it loads core 19 hovers around 2.8Mhz.

Am using Windows 10 enterprise it works this way.

Windows10 pro am not sure.

Windows 10 enterprise has some difference in load sharing and memory utilization.

Not at this time no but I believe it will be in an upcoming BIOS update. Several other X99 boards have received an update that "Support 2016 Q2 coming new CPU" but the X99 ITX/AC has not received an update yet.

I would contact Tech Support directly and ask them when an update will become available to add support for Broadwell-EP CPUs.

DOES THIS Mother board Support this E5-2696-V4 processor?
