Hello All

Thanks for help and hints how to resolve issue. At the end, I had returned Extreme4 to shop and took Asus Mobo instead - autorestart problem is gone and WIndows is working stable. I think that Asrock will have to spend more time on UEFI...

I had a similar issue caused by the fast startup functionality in windows.

If you go here try disabling it and then see if that helps. It did not impact my actual boot time from cold.

I had a similar problem, but only waking from sleep.
I had to Disable wake on Pattern Match for my ethernet adapter, but you seem to have other issues if it is waking from full shut down as well.

Hello

In meantime I had 2 OS crashes, one with 0x0(...) and second with 255 errors as far as I recall, so after 3 days of non-stop working on new PC I packed this mobo and I will swap it with MSI, which sucks, as I really wanted to have Extreme4 since I started thinking about moving to 1151.

@Parsec, as for Your question. MBR (my bad) had to be set 1st for SSD as Win 8.1 was not able to use this partition for installation, previously WIn7 had no such problems, but this issue was resolved rather quickly.

It's strange that the PC wakes from both a Sleep state and shutdown, but I have heard of that happening, and had it happen to my PC.

The wake after shutdown was apparently caused by a clone of my Windows installation, but that does not apply to you.

I did not understand this from your first post: Win  installed on SSD drive (MRD type). What is MRD type?

One thing I know would wake my PCs from Sleep, with an Intel I219V network chip that your board has, is the Power Management options in Device Manager. If you have the Intel network driver installed, in the Device Manager I219V Properties, Power Management tab, uncheck all the Wake on LAN options, and be sure the two Respond to... request options without waking system are checked.

Another possibility is the Dehumidifier Function in the Tools screen in the UEFI. That should be set to Disabled, unless you use it.

Yet another culprit was the Intel Smart Connect Utility software and UEFI option, but that is not included in your board as far as I know.

So the system powers off, fans stop etc then a few seconds later powers back on again?

To rule out drivers/OS you can try a live linux flash drive and see if you can shut down from there without issues. You would need to download a linux distribution (I would go with generic Ubuntu) and Live Linux USB creator (LILI USB). It is a quick and easy way to set up a recovery environment.

Let us know how it goes.

I had the same problem when I set up my H170 Combo for testing with a preinstalled OS drive, as soon as I performed a fresh install the problem stopped. Hello All

I just bought new PC setup based on Z170 Extreme4, and since then I am experiencing problems with Windows, or more likelly - UEFI setup.

Problem is, that when i am trying to close windows using shutdown option, move it to sleep state etc, machine is switching off as usual, but after few seconds it bootsup automatically, loading windows etc. It looks like restarting, but fans are powered down for 1-2sec. If computer is switched off using powerbutton, it stays switched off. Now, I already looked for solution and found out that for some users keyobard/mouse HID settings were the problem - switched off auto-wakeup option for those. I also disabled fastboot option within UEFI (updated it yesterday). I had checked all Uefi looking for any option that could result in autobooting, but found nothing.

Win  installed on SSD drive (MRD type)
USB emulation to PS2 disabled
Fastboot disabled
Keyboard and mouse are wireless, but I tested WIn shutdown with unplugged receivers for both and problem persisted
Legacy USB drivers disabled (used default option)

Just to mention, on my old rig (Phenom, same SSD and Win) such problem had not occured.

Any idea what can cause this issue?
