Author: Quexos
Subject: 25649
Posted: 13 May 2023 at 4:20pm

I refuse to have any nahimic/creative 3rd party, buggy bloatware on my PC. So far on both my B450 boards I have been able to stick the good old full featured generic HDA versions of the drivers and have all the Effects and features that these 3rd party crapwares hijack. All that nonsense is is reskins of the built in Realtek Effects so the motherboard manufacturers can pretend to have some high end "gamery" sound system when all it is is a basic, but perfectly good Realtek chip (ALC887, ALC892, ALC1200, etc.). 100% marketing nonsense!

Latest (probably last ever) full version: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=6.0.9273.1

The trick is to disconnect from the internet to avoid Windows Updates/Store ramming in the crapware before you can get what you want installed. COMPLETELY remove the UAD (small 20-50 MB driver) version and all the bloatware that came with it (Nahimic, "software components", etc.) then install the HDA driver (120-150 MB) that comes with it's own proper Realtek Control and Effects tabs.
