Author: bfollett
Subject: 2581
Posted: 03 May 2016 at 7:34am

Hi, I just got a 970M Pro 3 to replace my Gigabyte motherboard that didn't support the 8000 series AMD processors I want in the future and I'm having an issue with my memory. I have 2X2Gb DDR3 1600 memory from GSkill which worked fine with my Gigabyte board, but they seem to auto configuring to half speed on my new ASRock board. CPU-Z shows a Dram frequency of 400 (which x2 would be DDR3 800) instead of 800 (x2 which would be 1600) and looking at the bios setting on my board confirms this and shows DDR3 800 instead of 1600. I tried manually overriding using the OC wizard in the bios to DDR1600, which sort of worked. At first reboot I got a text screen saying something was wrong with the setting but a second reboot brought me into Windows but CPU-Z showed a frequency of 777.xx instead of 800
I left the SPD on auto for all the timings. The memory is physically in slot 2 and 4 which seems to be what the manual suggested and the Bios says they are in Dual Channel mode. Do I need to adjust something else to get this memory working as DDR1600? Oh I currently have a FX6100 CPU. I didn't adjust the clock frequency on it, but did up it's multiplier to get it to run at 3800Mhz instead of 3300Mhz.

Any help would be appreciated.
