Slot m2_1 does not recognize either Samsung 990 pro drive. Both drives work in slot M2_3, and both drives have the latest firmware.<br /><br />It looks like slot m2_1 is bad on my motherboard.<br /><br />How do I go about RMA'ing the motherboard ?<br /><br />]]>

Suggestions ?<br /></td></tr></table> <br /><br />Yes, swapping the unrecognized 990 on different M2 ports would be a good start and see what happens.<br /><br />What I have noticed in BIOS about storage is that there are no separate configuration options for each M2 port, so changes are applied to the storage system.<br /><br />If after testing the M2 port swapping there are no positive results I would consider the possibility of defective 990 and if you want confirmation of failure on your X399 Taichi I would recommend opening an ASRock support request<br /><br /><a href="https://&#101;vent.asrock.com/tsd.asp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://event.asrock.com/tsd.asp</a><br /><br /><br />Good luck and please let us know your findings]]>

The two in M2_2 and M2_3 were recognized, and any updates applied by Samsung Magician. The M2_1 is not seen. Once I get the machine back up I can try the drive currently in M2_1 in m2_3 and see what happens.<br /><br />I suspect there is some setting in the BIOS related to M2_1 or something along those lines, not the firmware on the drive.     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forum.asrock.com/member_profile.asp?PF=27200">x399_user</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 25856<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 03 May 2023 at 4:27am<br /><br />I have an X399 Taichi with BIOS P3.90<br />I took out a failing 970 evo 2TB in M2_2 and put it in M2_3, and put a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB in M2_2<br /><br />I was able to get the drive cloned from M2_2 to M2_3 after 3 attempts. ( 970 was having issues)<br /><br />I now have Samsung 990Pro's in all three slots, and the BIOS and OS only see two of these. Both recognized 990 Pro's have the most recent firmware.<br /><br />I am not using a U.2 drive, there is nothing plugged in there and it still has the rubber boot from the factory.<br /><br />My issue, M2_1 does not see a 990 pro.<br /><br />What should I do ?]]>
