The only thing I can think of (to add to Parsec's advice) is possibly bent pins in the CPU socket or dirt on the CPU contacts. The 64bit instruction set is a physical aspect of the CPU so if it's pins are obstructed somehow that could possibly cause the symptoms you mentioned.<div><br></div><div>The BIOS version is a solid starting point as Parsec noted.</div>]]>

The i3-6100 requires at least version 1.20. The UEFI version is on a sticker on the UEFI chip, in the lower right corner of the board.<br><br>When does the freezing occur? During the OS installation?<br><br>What media are you using for installing the OS? USB flash drive, or disk?<br><br>Which slots are you using for your memory? For two DIMMs like yours, you should use the A2 and B2 slots. Is your memory at its stock speed?<br><br>Are you using all default settings in the UEFI? If not, what UEFI options have you changed?<br>]]>
