Actually, 6 to 6.4 support Pinnacle Ridge, also.
They "don't recommend" it, but it's just a cop out as far as I'm concerned.
They stopped supporting Bristol Ridge for good at some point, but never stopped supporting Zen-based CPUs.

My recommendation is to go all the way to 10.08 for the latest security fixes and all. I don't see a reason to stop at 7.10. That's just the first BIOS version to support Vermeer CPUs.

Thanks! Yeah I round about way found that same solution my bios had never been updated so it was stock 4.5. I had to incrementally upgrade it to 5.8 and stop since 6 to 6.4 didn't support my pinnacle cpu. Once I had 5.8 flashed i could bunny hop to 7.0 then 7.10. I stopped at 7.10 and then the 5800 ryzen 7 installed just fine like butter. Assuming this is the board:

You need BIOS 7.10 or newer for 5800X.
If the current BIOS is older than 7.00, you need to first flash it to 7.00 (Bridge BIOS), and then you can flash it further to the latest (10.08 beta).

If you don't want the beta BIOS, you can stop at 7.40, but personally, I'd go for the latest beta, because Asrock tends to leave these older boards with beta BIOS.

So put the 2600 back in, flash to 7.00, flash again to 10.08.
And then swap the CPU to 5800X.

I'm currently running an older Asrock mobo
ASRock X370 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard

I just recently purchased a new cpu to replace my Ryzen 5 2600 and upon installation the pc will not boot up. It will constantly kick on, all the fans run and then it tries to boot then shuts off and then the process begins again. There's no post to the mobo. I've swapped my 5 back in and it boots as normal.

I'm confused if maybe there's some reason the specific 7 I got is either dead or incompatible even though the x370 is supposed to be compatible with all 5000 series ryzens or at least that was my understanding. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
