All I know is that in many cases intel's listed specs and limitations are exceeded by manufacturers.

From what I've understood from your reply the misunderstanding may depend on the dual channel memory support. But the specs from intel are quite clear and states that the dual channel is supported but still they specify 8 GB as maximum supported RAM.

So from what I understand , this means that a mobo supporting dual channel will make use of such (declared) feature and could run over 2x 4 GB being fastest that a singol slot of 8 GB.

the point I don't understand is how Asrock managed to support 16 GB as if it declares it I really know it does!! Just want to know how the mobo manages the "extra" 8GB not supported by the CPU

From what I remember the Brasswell CPU line was not meant to support dual channel either but I know for a fact that it works on ASRocks boards that claim support for it.

If it were not supported ASRock would not claim that it is. The have obviously facilitated it in the BIOS and board design.
